Boy! Even KCRS 550 radio would be envious. Looks like several acres of
radials. Real shame, should we fly the flag at half-mast?

This is an interesting forward from George, K5GH. Scroll on down and
follow the link to K9DX's 160m array. Pretty amazing. Apparently the
ice storm brought it down.

Alan

Don't know if you heard but K9DX lost his 9 element vertical array for
160m.

If you check out his webpage you can see what it is. A circle of 8
elements

with a driven element in the middle. I assume by switching he can have a

vertical three element beam in 8 directions. Does not get much better
than

that on 160.

This is the message from the Eastern Iowa DX Association reflector about

K9DX I mentioned at lunch today. Don't know exactly what "All 9
elements

went down" means but it can't be good. Best case would be if they just

snapped at the base but it probably didn't happen that way.

I havent heard of anyone losing antennas locally in the ice storm. I
got

the following from W0FLS this morning.

>

> We had quite a bit of ice here yesterday. Steady rain for about 4
hours

> with temp holding at 24 degrees with steady 20-30 mph winds. I didn't

lose

> anything here. Talked with Toni tonight and all his stuff was OK.
K9DX

went
