[DX] 160 1834

Converted my 160 vertical to 80 for the RTTY test so don't have 160 antenna
right now
and considering the ice on the roof won't be changing it back to 160 this
weekend !!

tried to QSO with ZHH on the OMNI 6 last night.

For those of you that know the OMNI 6 - the non-existent internal antenna
tuner is pretty poor so he had a very difficult time hearing me.

Want to talk with him to discover what he's using for his audio link to Elk
City. He was S9+ here.

Twice his internet link fuzzed the xmit audio for few seconds but other then
that I would not have known he was on remote transmit.

Plus maybe wa0zhh would like to attend the meetings and tell us about the
link !!

==========================

Omni 6 update: have the inrad 1.8 khz installed in the 9mhz slot. Have
not decided it's a keeper
have varied the pbt and observed it on MTTY and some of the SSB qso's I've
listened to were not ideal..
while I want it for SSB contest weekends if it cuts off too much and can't
understand folks then it's a bust.
yes my other rigs have or had inrad 1.8 and they are great....
Also got the OMNI performance upgrade on audio but once here the
instructions are state OMNI 6+ and
looks like the 6+ changed two caps cutting off highs. Mine is 6/op3 and
already has the correct caps in it.
I am pondering TT doing that and remembering both the OMNI 6 and 6+ writeups
in QST where the rigs had to go back to TT with TT claiming some change they
made screwed something up and fixed the rig before the review was done.
(Best I can tell it's the only vendor ARRL has done this with.)
